Bettye LaVette Recreates Dylan

Bettye LaVette - Things Have Changed

Bettye's first record.  From when? 1962...that same year Dylan released his first album.

Yep...they are about the same age...not surprising I guess...

One of them has aged a whole lot better than the other.....

One of them could always sing well...the other...well...let's just say the voice is an acquired taste...

Young Bob was an absolute songbird compared to Dylan circa 2018.

True...there has been deterioration over time...

After listening to a few tracks online (and I have and enjoy many of Bettye's albums) I'll pass on this one. If I want to hear Dylan songs sung so that don't sound like Dylan songs I'll go see Dylan in concert.

I love Bettye LaVette but only discovered her in 2005 when she released her "I've Got My Own Hell to Pay" album and I've bought every album since. But I haven't heard her really early stuff so thanks Mr. Clown for posting that early song. I'm not a big soul fan so I prefer what she's doing now to that earlier song.

Since I think Dylan's the most important songwriter of our era when I learned Bettye has done a whole album of his songs I was very excited. Unlike Mr. Clown I can't wait to receive this album. My only disappointment is that the record company insisted she do at least two well-known songs from Dylan's 60s period. There are so many great songs by him that are lesser known I'm sure glad she has chosen some of those too.
