Compared to Miranda Lambert and Dusty Springfield, Jessica Lynne is Seattle’s latest country music talent. But she’s a lady of paradox. She’s from Haslav, Denmark, but sings country.She lives in Seattle, but writes non-ironic heartfelt modern country.
But what she really can do is sing.
Her latest effort, Calling Me Home, is a single recorded in Seattle’s own London Bridges Studios. Being a transplant to this area, the lyrics reflect my own experience with the northwest. It’s nice to have a country song that is actually about the country. Something of a lost art in the Northwest’s Americana scene. It is a simple love song about the area. For me, it’s one of the best songs of the year.
I became a fan of hers when I first met her years ago at a songwriter’s workshop. Since then, she’s forged her own way into a music career.
She came out to the Olympic Peninsula to play a show at a local club, Bar N9ne. She blew the roof of the place. My bias aside, the crowd was buzzing. Of special note is her guitar player, Jason Goessl. Playing a Fender Tele, he
