It took a big name from the alt-country community to help the California band Limbeck create its best recorded work to date. Gary Louris, of Jayhawks fame, co-produced Let Me Come Home, exposing this power-pop outfits roots-rock leanings. Though it is definitely not a country album, Let Me Come Home has a rawer sound and is less polished than Limbecks previous outings, and even features an electric slide guitar on the uptempo rocker Long Way To Go. Long on catchy melodic hooks, Limbeck makes up for a lack of lyrical substance with an infectious and sugary-sweet sound. Much like a typical summer romance, Limbecks songs are short-lived but memorable.
