Are Promise of the Real Bringing out the Best in Neil Young?

I agree live he's been great only becuase he's kept away form this latest songs and dug deep but every record in the last 5-6 years has been a stinker. The Thrasher site is very good for news and views but make sure do not sound critical or you'll be banned...walk on ...

Grab Storytone or Earth to demonstrate my point.

Wait, when did this discussion become about Dylan? Just kidding L A but I think your sentiments apply equally well to either "singer".  I did hear NY's recent recordings sound much better on a PONO player played at 192 kHz. Well, at least that's what my dog says.

I can believe it. I've liked POTR since the first slightly sharp E chord of their first EP -- they play with soul and abandon, and it's like Lukas Nelson has absorbed his dad's good taste along with his nasal architecture. I can imagine POTR bringing just the right amount of talent, reverence and fire to Young's shows. (Willie's musical daughter Paula by the way is also a gem, along with her fine band and fabulous guitarist, Landis Armstrong.) Blessed to have them all.
