Bill Frisell on Books that Connect

Artist Bill Frisell

Fascinating stuff. I would imagine that the "book on Highway 61" Bill mentions is the highly recommended 'On Highway 61 - Music, Race and the Evolution of Cultural Freedom' by Grateful Dead and Jack Kerouac biographer Dennis McNally

Another nice interview Henry.  Thanks!

Good choices. Cannot go wrong with Guralnick. Frisell is probably referencing Dennis McNally's On Highway 61, which is indeed excellent.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the value of the Teachout book (but not on the value of Pops!)

East of Eden is my favorite Steinbeck novel, easily outdistancing Grapes of Wrath.

Lastly, if he hasn't, he ought to check out Henry Miller's Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymous Bosch.
