An Early Harvest: A Handful of Fall 2017's Music Books

Thanks, Henry, for pointing me in a couple of interesting directions. I look forward to your reviews of the books I just can't (or won't) get to. - Ted

Damn it Henry, stop doing this to me...I'd like to several of these and now that I know about them I'll have to add them to the pile...

Just kidding...I tried to make it through Hoskyns' book "Hotel California" and the one on The Band, the title of which escapes me...but his writing style doesn't work for me...he wrote some articles in MOJO that I was impressed with and he knows his stuff, but the books are just a drag somehow...can't put my finger on it...Mitchell, is an interesting person...the book by Powers sounds great...

Nice job Henry...

A great roundup of books Henry. I've got quite a few more to add to my reading list now. Especially excited about Patti Smith's latest. M Train and Just Kids are two of my favorite music books. I'm also looking forward to Holly Gleason's. Here's one you forgot : - my first book, set for publication September 23 in Canada & a few weeks later in the U.S. Available now for preorder online.

It's on the history of The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto - a legendary venue that celebrates 70 years this year. See this link for more details and check out the website. Be great if you could review once it's out.

I'm most excited about the Loudon Wainwright III memoir. He's a longtime favorite and a collection of his songs would be an autobiography in itself. I am very curious what his prose will be like.
