Easy Ed's Favorite Un-Americana Music of 2017

Saw Tom Brosseau in Medora, ND when visiting Theodore National Park over labor day weekend.  Great show.

You might enjoy this piece I wrote about Tom:

Thanks!  I'll check that out.

I'm usually with you 100% EasyEd but for the life of me I don't get the attraction of Garrison Keillor. Other than that, cool column (as expected).

Am with you there, Former Artiste, as far as his former show is concerned.  But, the Chicago Tribune picks up his (usually political) commentary from time to time and I admire his ability to write a great deal. Seek out his articles on line, I suspect you’d appreciate his ability to write.

I can’t stand Garrison Keillor’s voice.

He was barely on my radar until I spent five long winters living in Minnesota in the late nineties. When neighbors took me to a show one night I totally got it and became a huge fan of his. Great singer (nails Elvis), humorist and to me his voice is comforting. I’ve seen the Altman film about twenty times and read/post his columns regularly. Perhaps had I not seen the show live I wouldn’t have become such a fan, but I know plenty who feel like you guys do. Chocolate/Vanilla I suppose.

I have always loved Garrison Keillor's voice. I guess Easy Ed is right: chocolate and vanilla.

Quite a nice one, Ted, I could not agree more, and yes, you got me on Amarante. Since you went to South America, might I turn you onto Susana Baca, vocalist and activist from Peru. Up here she's on Luaka Bop label but all her work is worth seeking out. I got to see her on one of her rare US visits, and, Byrne was there too. Yes, thanks for the Freakwater and Mekins nods.

@Amos: Thanks for the heads up on Susana...will check her out. By the’s Ed not Ted...he does the bluegrass column. Your piece this week was great and I posted it on my Americana-Roots Facebook page. All the best.

I was a fan of PHC and Garrison Keillor for almost every show since the the show began.  It was nice to be able to find shows I missed on archives. Maybe it is an age thing but I can't get into the new show.  Thile is very very talented but maybe talks too much and tries too hard. I recall going to a national story teller festival in East Tenn. a couple of decades ago and realized that while there was a lot of talent on the stage, I had heard the best story

teller on public radio every Saturday night. Thanks for the Tom Petty video.  As part of his legacy I'm trying to track down videos of as many of the non-

rock and rock covers song he and the band did in concert as possible.  Amazing ability to do songs from many genres and to cover rock songs by other artists.  He was a true roots music fan.

Due to recent allegations of improper conduct against Garrison Keillor Minnesota Public Radio has fired him and will rename Prarie Home Companion.

May I suggest Predator Home Companion?

Charlie Rose, Matt Lauer, Harvery Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Mark Halperin, and don't forget the pedophile predator Roy Moore currently seeking erection in Alabama.

Now, if only we could fire Predator Trump.

I posted some thoughts about Keillor on my Facebook page that have been picked up by some NY media outlets. I have a ticket to attend Keillor’s solo tour this Friday and the response to his termination that he wrote, meant to be humorous I suppose, has caused me to consider skipping it.

I'm not on Facebook but I could read your comment EasyEd.  Talk about tone deaf and out of step with the times!  I heard Garrison also made some idiotic comment about if he had a dollar for every woman's hand that went below his belt when they had their photo taken with him he'd have $100. Did he think he should have been groped more?   Or was he bragging? Woah. Be gone!

As to my favorable comments about Keillor from a couple of days ago

Never Mind!
