Every Song's a Bluegrass Song that Doesn't Know it ... Yet

Ted,

    Merry Christmas,

Wish you would share more of all the great Bluegrass that you hear out on the road

Jim

Merry Christmas to you, too, Jim. Irene and I will keep making videos and I'll keep posting them. I probably won't do many columns that are as heavy on video as this week's is, but there's so much available as evidence for my point, I just couldn't resist. - Ted

Also the V W Boys.   What about some covers from a group you mentioned a few weeks ago (Nothin Fancy) or Larry Stephenson covering Buddy Miller and Dicky Lee on the On Fire album.

Janice - There are so many songs that fit. The hunger of bluegrass fans for difference that still sounds close to bluegrass and the eagerness of bluegrass to find audience as well as all the musical influences in our world today all contribute to broadening bluegrass in terms of who it influences and how it is influenced. Thanks for your comment. - Ted

Great article Ted and you were right...we were traveling down the same highway this week.

This is like a master class, Ted, with great examples of the currents that flow among musical genres and how each finds what it needs in a song to express something that's representative of its worldview. Munyin told me to take a look here, but she didn't tell me it would take 20 minutes, and I enjoyed every one of them.

Thanks so much, Tim. I had fun writing it, too. - Ted
