Folk Alliance International in Kansas City -- Or, Sorry About the TV in the Pool

From now on, when somebody asks me what Folk Alliance is like, instead of fumbling for anything near an accurate explanation, I'll simply refer them to this piece. Great work Ms. Jill!

Well you were my yoda to the whole thing... "highlighter you must use..."

I can confirm the band from Japan.  They were called Pirates Canoe and they played on the final night of our Private Showcase.

We also had some other international acts: We Banjo 3 (Ireland), Delaney Davidson (New Zealand), and The Jellyman's Daughter (Scotland)

Hey - cool - thanks - rumors were correct. Talk soon!

Really wonderful photos, Jill; thanks for sharing them here. Nice to see you even briefly there at FAI; nice panel on publicity that afternoon. The best room in the place on Saturday night was the one with Hot Club, followed by Los Texmaniacs, and The Sojourners, and then a quick run over to catch Bill, Redd, and Albert.

Hey Henry!

Yah that PR panel was fun. I wanted to see The Sojourners but I think I ran out of gas.

Talk soon

Great article and great photos.  I see, like me, you like to "shoot 'em in the head"
Keep up the good work

Thank you! I tend to go for the head to get inside their minds. I have a slew of others of where you can almost see the little man running around in the brain.
