Lifting Angels From the Snow: ND's Photos of the Year

A moment from Bluesfest Byron Bay this year. So I'm lugging my gear in on the first day of the festival, already wristbanded and taking the fast lane past the queues. I had, I thought, a spring in my step. I'm about to enter the festival grounds when a security guard approaches me and asks if I'm OK.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I say, having no idea why he's asking. "You sure?" "Yep." With that he puts a friendly hand on my shoulder, and smiles knowingly.

It was weird, but he seemed sincere. What signals was I sending out?

About fifteen minutes later I realised I was wearing a plain black T-shirt with the words "No Depression" across my chest in bold letters.

Thanks for that, and especially your fine photos all year long.
