Dressy Bessy ~ “Flower Jargon”
When indie rock band Dressy Bessy road tripped from Denver, CO to Hillsborough, NC to come hang with us for a few days, there was no question that we’d shoot their Sawyer Session at DB (Daniel Boone) Traders, the local antique store that shares the same initials as the band.
Associated with the Elephant Six Collective (guitarist John Hill also plays with The Apples In Stereo), Dressy Bessy was formed in 1996, taking their name from the popular 1970’s Playskool doll. Since their start, the band has put out six full length albums and is currently gearing up for their 7th, out on Yep Roc Records in early 2016.
Tammy, John, Craig, Marcus and Daisy, their beloved dog, met us at DB Traders one afternoon to play us a few tunes, including “Flower Jargon.” Despite being surrounded by hundreds of breakable antique objects, we managed to walk out of there with only two broken mugs and surprisingly it was done by the humans, not Daisy.
