“Let Go”
Nora Jane Struthers’ new record, Wake, is a powerful statement of her own rock-n-roll awakening. Backed by her band, The Party Line, the “beguiling. . . guided by fire” (NPR’s Ann Powers) Struthers mixes pedal steel with robust guitar riffs and her own fearless voice. Wake leaves behind wistful narratives in favor of Struthers’ most personal, autobiographical songs yet. “Let Go” which Struthers co-wrote with Nashville-based singer-songwriter Robby Hecht, deals with the subject of addiction and she says it “touches on the idea of not being able to control what pieces of you get presented as who you are to the world. Acting out of fear is probably the most toxic thing a person can do. And so it’s about trying to let go of that.”
