Tedeschi Trucks Band with Hard Working Americans at The Paramount, Seattle
Tedeschi Trucks Band on November 4, 2017
The Tedeschi Trucks Band rolled into Seattle for their annual concerts in support of their latest album, “Live from The Fox Theatre,” which came out earlier this year. Playing to a full house at The Paramount Theatre, this evening was the first of two shows where they shared the bill with the Hard Working Americans.
The Hard Working Americans features frontman Todd Snider along with Dave Schools and Duane Trucks of Widespread Panic, and Chad Staehly, Jesse Aycock, and Daniel Sproul (from Rose Hill Drive). Their opening set featured tunes from their new album, We’re All In This Together, which highlights their rockin', jammin’ tunes. I was thrilled to have been able to catch their set, as they are a fantastic band and one that I’ll be looking forward to seeing again.
Tedeschi Trucks Band opened their set with a blazing rendition of the Derek & The Dominos cover of “Anyday,” which set the evening off perfectly, followed by another cover of The Allman Brothers “Blue Sky,” which had the crowd out of their seats.
Each time I see and hear Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks with this band of amazing musicians fortifies their greatness as one of the top bands around. The subtle interplay and chemistry between the musicians as they glide into one song to another is downright spiritual. They certainly know how to blend in their own tunes with covers from other great songwriters with reverence.
A surprise was their rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Bird On A Wire,” beautifully sung by Susan Tedeschi. Throughout the evening, the guitar playing of Derek Trucks is something to behold; he's truly one of the best players in the world. Backing Tedeschi and Trucks is their 10-piece band featuring some outstanding players, including Kofi Burbridge on keyboards and Tim Lefebvre on bass.
If you ever have a chance to catch Tedeschi Trucks Band in your town or on the road at the many festivals they play throughout the year, don’t hesitate to catch them live. I guarantee you’ll become a fan.
