Speaking of Justin Townes Earle…several tour dates are now suspended
A couple of days ago, I shared the news that Justin Townes Earle had gotten in an altercation following a recent show in Indianapolis at the club Radio Radio. I sought only to share my opinion on the discussions I’d seen emerging from the blogosphere, rather than to claim to know any facts about the story (as many were not provable at that time).
Today, I received this press release, and thought I’d share.
As the result of this postponement, Earle is also not available for interviews at this time, which means our current interview contest is also suspended until further notice. We’ve been assured that Justin will fulfill the contest as soon as he’s available for interviews again.
Now for the press release:
JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE SUSPENDS TOUR DATES, ENTERS REHAB
WITH NEW CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM OUT, EARLE
LOOKS FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO WORK
Justin Townes Earle has decided to suspend the remaining dates on his tour and enter a rehabilitation
facility. Earle is strongly committed to confronting his on-going struggle with addiction and thanks his
family, friends and fans for their continued support through this difficult time.
In regards to the misdemeanor charges recently filed in Indianapolis, Earle released the following
statement earlier this week: “Unfortunately, reports surfacing online about the incident in Indianapolis are
not accurate. I have been advised by counsel that I should not comment on a pending criminal matter, but
suffice to say that I am looking forward to having my day in court. I would also like to say that I oppose
violence against women in any form.”
Earle looks forward to resuming the tour in support of his critically acclaimed third album, Harlem River
Blues, on independent record label Bloodshot Records. The album enters this week at #47 on the Top 200
in overall Soundscan.
