Originally from Westchester, NY, Alyssa Sequoia’s earliest memories are of writing songs. "Music came to me and filled my head. I didn't know how to articulate what I was hearing because it was full orchestras or gospel choirs. I didn't have the language or the musical chops in my childhood to repeat it". At 18, Alyssa began performing her original songs and rap in Manhattan. To support herself, Alyssa got a job catering concerts at The Beacon Theater, Madison Square Garden, and rehearsals at S.I.R. Studios where she found herself cooking for bands like The Black Crows, Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Sinead O’Conner, Crosby Stills & Nash and many more. She soon became friends with the band members who she later preformed and recorded her original music with. She then moved to Los Angeles where she met musicians Deron Johnson (Alanis Morrisette, Seal, Miles Davis), Ian Walker (KD Lang, Missy Higgins), and Josh Smith who further inspired her and performed with them at local LA venues and house parties. Again Alyssa returned to the East Coast continuing her songwriting. Aside from singing her own songs, Alyssa has a great love of jazz and the many standards. "I love the lilting melodies and the lyrics I could sing them for hours." Over the years Alyssa has recorded 3 albums, Alyssa - Flow With Me" a five song EP, "Alyssa Live" a live performance she did in Manhattan, and "within" a full length album which is currently receiving worldwide airplay, award nominations, and notable reviews. Alyssa is currently in the studio recording her latest group of new songs for a full length album entitled "Queen Annes Lace". Alyssa currently lives in the mountains of Western Massachusetts.
