David Masciotra

David Masciotra is an author, lecturer, and cultural critic. He is the author of Mellencamp: American Troubadour, from the University Press of Kentucky, and Metallica by Metallica, a 33 1/3 book by Bloomsbury Publishers. In 2010, Continuum Books published his first book, Working On a Dream: The Progressive Political Vision of Bruce Springsteen.

Eyewear Publishing published his latest book, Barack Obama: Invisible Man.

In 2018, Agate Publishing will publish his next book, Half-Lights at Evening: Essays on Hope.

Masciotra writes regularly for Salon and AlterNet.

He has also written about culture for the Daily Beast, The Atlantic, Washington Post, Blurt,and the Los Angeles Review of Books,  and politics for Truthout, Indianapolis Star, and Fusion. He is a former columnist with PopMatters.

Masciotra has a Master’s Degree in English Studies and Communication from Valparaiso University. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of St. Francis.
