Red Fire Night
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, September 22, Green River Ordinance premiered their new single, “Red Fire Night,” from the forthcoming album, “Fifteen,” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Fifteen years ago, Josh Jenkins (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Jamey Ice (guitars, banjo, mandolin), Joshua Wilkerson (guitars, vocals, mandolin, piano), Geoff Ice (bass, vocals, harmonica) and Denton Hunker (drums, percussion) formed the band, and their new single confirms that their music is stronger than ever.
“Red Fire Night” opens simply with an a capella version of the song’s chorus, an joyous shout to the beauty of the night and the celebration with family and friends that it promises. Spry fiddles then launch the song into a driving reel into and out of which Ice’s harmonica weaves and bobs, providing the red carpet which lifts and carries along the band’s crisp vocals. The song is pure fun and encourages dancing across a clearing in the woods, or a barn floor, or a barroom floor; in fact, when you drop the needle on the grooves or cue it up, you won’t be able to sit still once the music starts.
“Fifteen” will be released on January 22, 2006, but is available for pre-order beginning today, September 25. Upon purchase, fans will receive four songs, including “Keep Your Cool,” “Red Fire Night,” “Maybe It’s Time (Gravity)” and “Simple Life.” For more on Green River Ordinance, please visit greenriverordinance.com.
