Not Singing Is Not New for Marisa Anderson

Cloud Corner continues to showcase Marisa Anderson’s playing as among the most innovating and engaging in the roots community today. The Portland-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist plays a number of stringed instruments, namely guitar, lap steel, slide guitar, which channel the likes of Etta Baker or Elizabeth Cotton’s picking. Her previous work, as well as new songs like the title track and mourning “Lament” highlight her droning, bluesy originals and interpretations of traditional and public domain songs.
