Winehouse Sobriety

Amy Winehouse
Reflecting on the life and daunting lyrics of Amy Winehouse , I feel her connection to our growing shadow of social disconnection. Amy’s real hangover came from a broken heart that didn’t find enough trust in the safety of our human circus to put her back together again.
Or just maybe… she didn’t want to be saved, just left alone?
When life seems like such a gift, yet to witness so many feeling so dubious about living that we would rather find a way out, how does a soul detoxify such sobering news?
With all the labeling and speculation about her life, remember Amy Winehouse was human.
While her demons made her fly, only to crash and burn, her curt lyrics and soulful talent made her soar everlasting, along with so many of our souls listening.
I admit I was not a fan of her music, still she made me appreciate her talent and understand her bruised soul in the urgency of her poetry.
While Grammy Awards claimed we were listening to her, I ask myself why so many of us couldn’t dry her tears?
