Three For Silver Share A Doom Folk Anthem For Those At The Bottom Of The Barrel
Portland, Oregon-based ‘doom folk’ trio Three For Silver, have released their raucous new video for “Get Low”, an anthem for those at the bottom of the barrel. “Get Low” is a gritty slice of twisted folk that showcases the group’s unique instrumental line-up and captivating live show. In their natural habitat, seemingly immersed within a rowdy crowd of bohemians, artists, misfits and music lovers, Three For Silver whip up a carnival atmosphere that revels in the down and dirty.
This intimately shot video offers us a close look at the interplay between the musicians; showcasing the balance and dynamic between Willo Sertain’s rich accordion chords, Greg Allison’s driving fiddle work, Lucas Warford’s striking vocal growl and his unusual bass approach. This unique bass technique is due to Warford’s one-of-a-kind, home-built, double bass, which he refers to as the ‘contrabasin’. The body of the bass is built from a steel washtub which gives his instrument a uniquely bright and percussive tone. An effect that Warford combines with slaps on the instrument’s body to powerfully drive the music forward. Keen-eyed viewers may also note Warford’s other custom projects, a banjo bass and resonator bass, perched in the background.
