Scott Chasolen – “There She Goes Again” (track review)

Scott Chasolen’s newest single, ‘Limbo’, is known for the prolific pianist stepping foot into a plain of subtle. Beautiful in its graceful, emotive tidings, the song soars in its ability to transcend even Chasolen’s brilliance as a musician to showcase his heart at the forefront of the minimalist ensemble. Albeit, if Chasolen’s contemplative tune stuck between a realm of heartbreak and happiness is known for its subtlety, ‘There She Goes Again’ is known for its party-hardy groove while perhaps following similar lyrical themes. Not unlike Shoeless Revolution, takes a page from the likes of piano-pop performers invoking instances of jazz and R&B tones in their work, particularly those who held the torch for the sub-genre at the time such as Andy Grammer. Then, it raises the bar that their bubblegum works meagerly set to 11.

Although ‘There She Goes Again’ was recorded in 2010, it seems to remain a staple of Chasolen’s eight solid years later. There’s no mistaking its danceable roots or the artist’s sheer musicality through the song, particularly when he is getting an audience up and grooving live as he did in New York’s Living Room near the tune’s initial release. It’s a cool reflection of where Chasolen’s been compared to where he is now and draws the link between his stunning funk and emotive folk. Even though it happens so often in the pop realm that should someone with a creative heart is kept inside of a box, Chasolen has proven the beauties of one who has been fully allowed to spread their wings throughout his eclectic and long-standing career. ‘Limbo’ and ‘There She Goes Again’ are two sides of a many-sided coin. Chasolen, ever on the quest to express himself, has done so in greatly varied yet equally as integral ways between, for instance, these couple of tracks.
