Interview with Paul Moody and the Revelators

I had the pleasure of asking Paul Moody of Paul Moody and the Revelators a few questions about the groups latest EP. Check out his responses as well as the new music below.
What is your musical background? At what age did you first learn an instrument?
I had my first guitar lesson in about 6th grade – I soon quit the lessons but was writing songs with the few chords that I had learned. I wish I could hear some of the songs my sixth grade self wrote because I bet they were adorably terrible.
Have you ever played in any other projects or is The Revelators your one and only?
My first band was with good friends from high school called “Moody and the Mellow.” We had at least one good song called, “Fly on the Window” but the rest of our album is rather cringeworthy to me now. I had been performing solo for a couple years before teaming up with these Revelators.
What are you thoughts on the modern music industry? Do you like the prospect of playlists being the hot ticket in music discovery?
I am a little bewildered by the modern music industry . It seems like self promotion being social media savvy is as important as writing songs for a lot of artists. I always feel uncomfortable trying to shout my name into the void of the internet – I am not great at it.
As a music fan I think steaming services and having access to pretty much every recording ever made is amazing – but it seems to often be the most glittery and immediately gratifying music that really benefits from playlists. There is a fast food element to it all, a lot of empty carb lyrics and production that sound like diabetes.
What was the first CD you ever purchased with your own money?
I think it was Prolonging the Magic by Cake. I listened to Sheep Go To Heaven way too many times.
Whats next in your world?
Making an album. There are so many songs brewing in this band, I am very excited about getting back in the studio.
