    March 7th is Townes Van Zandt’s birthday. Not that I need much of a reason to celebrate Townes.

     

    Townes set the songwriting bar so high that his contemporaries continue to judge their own work against his. His songs were mostly labored over until they were perfect. We don’t have many “who’s the best songwriter” arguments here in Texas.

     

    If you get a chance, throw on some Townes today and celebrate.
