Los Angeles Jeff Buckley Tribute Show featuring Brother Sal
Since Jeff Buckley’s tragic and untimely death in 1997, his friends and family have been very careful about keeping his music alive. This week, there are a handful of officially sanctioned Buckley Tribute shows around the world in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Italy, and Ireland.
As you’d probably expect with officially sanctioned tribute shows for a mysteriously diseased cult figure, they’re pretty picky about the musicians they select. Monday night’s Los Angeles show will feature Brother Sal, Ladies Gun Club, Brian Wright and several other particularly amazing folks playing at Largo.
The proceeds from the show go to the Jeff Buckley Scholarship at The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which, if you’re not familiar, is a state of the art, non-profit center that offers lessons and training to kids and the rest of the community with the goal to make quality music classes affordable and accessible to everyone. Basically, if you go to this show, you’re going to give some really deserving kid a chance to enrich his life through the arts, and if you don’t go, well, you’re just being a jackass.
So, 8 PM, come rock out, write it off, and help a kid pay for his drum lessons. Sure beats the hell out of staying home, being bored, and not helping anybody. You can get tickets here, get directions and info on Largo here, and learn more about the Silverlake Conservatory of Music here.
