“Something’s there on the other side” are the lyrics that open up the brand new release from Vancouver’s Redgy Blackout, more recently known as simply “Redgy”. These words are synonymous with the band Redgy is proud to be. A west coast band definitely on the ‘other side’ of your average pop/rock band, or more specifically, the fun side, Redgy combines elements of rock, pop, swing, reggae, jazz and sprinkles it with uplifting and thought provoking lyricism, creating ridiculously catchy songs. The group is made up of their theatrically adept singer Scott Perrie, who uses his acting prowess in writing and performing, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist, and Jeremy Breaks, who shreds, picks, plucks and strums everything with a string, and provides backing vocals. The two met in an obscure corner of Vancouver at an open jam, and have been playing music together since.
On the heels of a brand new EP entitled “Meet You On The Other Side” (Check out the VIDEO) Redgy is setting out to hook you in with their fabulously fun music, and the guys are poised to land on the side of success following their 2009 debut “The Leap”, which was released across North America, charting on over 30 stations and achieving numerous top five spots. Meet You On The Other Side was produced by the talented Tom Dobrzanski of The Zolas, and contains six (6) original tracks ranging from the quirky yet heartfelt “Like Penguins Do”, to the brooding “Peter Brunelle” and into the uptempo and funk-rooted “My Heart Beat”.
Redgy Blackout played the opening ceremony of The World Police and Fire Games in 2009 at GM Place with Randy Bachman and Sean Verreault, and on their efforts were picked up by Turner Music, an agency which continues to ensure the band is exposed to new audiences. The sounds of Redgy Blackout have been heard on over 150 radio stations across North America and with the release of their new EP, promise to continue to be heard on these stations and many more to come. Don’t miss them across British Columbia and into Alberta this summer!
