The International Bluegrass Music Association announced the initial lineup for its IBMA Bluegrass Live! festival, part of its annual World of Bluegrass gathering that will mark its 10th year in Raleigh, North Carolina, this September.
Among the acts scheduled are The Infamous Stringdusters, The Jerry Douglas Band (with special guests), Sierra Hull, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Balsam Range, Della Mae, and Twisted Pine. Also headlining will be Dom Flemons and Shultz’s Dream, featuring Brian Farrow, Dante’ Pope, and Tray Wellington. “Shultz’s Dream” is a reference to Arnold Shultz, a Black fiddle player and guitarist who developed a thumb-style method on guitar around the turn of the 20th century that would come to influence Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, and more. Bill Monroe cited Shultz, a fellow Kentuckian, as a mentor.
In addition to these acts, who will perform on the festivals main stage at Red Hat Amphitheater, many more will be booked for the street festival portion of IBMA Bluegrass Live!, which spans several outdoor stages in downtown Raleigh. The street festival and unreserved seats at Red Hat Amphitheater are free. Tickets for reserved seats will go on sale April 5 for IBMA members and April 19 for the public.
IBMA Bluegrass Live! will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Raleigh. More info is available here.
