The Old Buzzard
Ann Pascoe is certainly an authentic country girl who was born on a back country, South Taranaki, sheep farm, milked cows after her marriage, and raised five children, listening to country music of the day.
“I started writing country songs and needed someone to sing them, but nobody seemed keen. I was told to sing them myself,” she says. So she took singing lessons for two years.
Since her 2001 debut she has produced four albums: “The First Hello” named from her own composition recorded with local Taranaki musicans backing her. “Misty Morning Memories” used music backing from Nashville, and her third “On the Menu” in 2005 received excellent feed back world wide, the title track (her own composition) going to #5 on the European Country Music Assn. Top 100 and staying on the charts for weeks.
The current fourth album “I’m Doing Fine” takes it’s title from another Ownbey song, and was chosen because Pascoe feels she is doing fine! “Am I Blue” from this album reached #5 on the ECMA charts and is still in the Top 100 after 14 weeks being played by country radio stations around the world.
