I love this man
I am quite amazed that anyone would not consider John Prine one of the finest songwriters and musical performers of the past 40 years. I first encountered him when a friend introduced me to his first two albums in 1972. His words were magic. Funny but so sensitive, so perceptive, so brilliant, so humble, so lacking in arrogance. He seemed to be able to capture the world as I saw it. I’ve seen him several times live and he never loses the energy and ability to connect with the audience. He almost seems to glow onstage. I like Dylan. I like Randy Newman and Guy Clark. But no songwriter I know has the heart and soul of John Prine.
