“Don’t Cure Me” – Lyrics
Don’t Cure Me
© Jackson Rodgers
Well, everybody asks what I’ll do after my graduation
I answer that I’m plannin’ to move all the way ‘cross the nation
They wonder just why in the world would I ever wanna move so far away
I say I don’t need me a reason to leave, I just ain’t found one to stay
And, well, I’m runnin’ outta real good reasons for livin’ to remain
It’s kinda funny when it’s just things painful that help to ease your pain
I’ve tried my best to make the most of all the good times that I’ve seen
But I can’t make-believe that they’re really worth all the others in between
Chorus:
I’m on a planet of ten billion people, but still I feel alone
I got a house many men would kill for, but still I need to roam
I’m gettin’ mostly everything I want, but still I’m feelin’ poor
I think whatever it is I need I might get if I can find another life to live for
Well, I went to a shrink, sayin’ “Doctor, you please must assure me
That you’ll help me understand my problems, but you will not cure me
‘Cause that might take away my motive to strive for a life that’s better
And I might give up the search for my true love before I’ve even met her”
And, well, I’ve heard the rumor sometimes love is really reciprocated
But in my experience I’ve found it is to be instated
I always fail to find a way to combat the resistance that I’m sensing
Maybe soon I’ll find a farsighted girl who won’t need so much convincing
Chorus:
I’m on a planet of ten billion people, but still I feel alone
I got a house many men would kill for, but still I need to roam
I’m gettin’ mostly everything I want, but still I’m feelin’ poor
I think whatever it is I need I might get if I can find another life to live for
I hope whatever it is I need I get if I can find another life to live for
