Contest: Interview Gary Louris, Win the Jayhawks’ Deluxe Editions of Sound of Lies, Smile, and Rainy Day Music
(Note: This contest is now closed. Thanks for all your entries!)
The Jayhawks have long been one of the most beloved bands in the roots, alt-country, and Americana spectrum. Their early albums were some of the most influential in the form and, as they moved from a decidedly alt-country bent into the realms of cleaner rock and pop, they cemented their place among the definitive practitioners of the expansive arena of Americana music.
This July 1, the folks at American Recordings/UME re-issued the Jayhawks’ albums Sound of Lies (1997), Smile (2000), and Rainy Day Music (2003) in deluxe re-mastered packages, including new liners, bonus tracks, and expanded booklets. According to the press release, the band — with its 1997 lineup of “Louris, Perlman, O’Reagan, Grotberg and Kraig Johnson — that will tour in support of the reissues. Much of July and part of August will be spent on a mix of headlining and festival dates in Europe, followed by a fall tour of the U.S. and Canada… For a current list of shows go to www.jayhawksofficial.com.”
To celebrate this momentous re-issue, we’ve teamed up with the fine folks at UME to give away a few copies via a community interview with Jayhawks frontman Gary Louris.
