In a live event from the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville this afternoon, the Americana Music Association revealed the nominees for its 2024 Honors & Awards.
Two artists — Sierra Ferrell and Tyler Childers — have nominations in each of the most-coveted categories: Artist, Album, and Song of the Year. Childers won last year’s award for Album of the Year, for Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? (ND review), and Ferrell was a nominee for Artist of the Year.
The nominations were announced amid performances by SistaStrings, last year’s Instrumentalist of the Year winners; and The War and Treaty, Duo/Group of the Year winners for the past two years; Amanda Fields and Megan McCormick; Kaitlin Butts (“like your rear end!” she said in introducing herself to the NMAAM audience); and Ferrell.
The Americana Honors & Awards show will take place Sept. 18 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, during AmericanaFest, which runs Sept. 17-21 and will mark the 25th anniversary of the Americana Music Association.
