KDHX Operations Manager and Songwriter’s Showcase Host Larry Weir Dies 1/13/10
From Kevin Johnson www.stltoday.com Blender column
KDHX-FM (88.1) radio personality and operations manager Larry Weir has died, according to the web site his wife Kathy set up in his honor after a New Year’s Eve fall landed Weir in Barnes-Jewish Hospital with brain damage.
Weir was co-host of the Songwriter’s Showcase on KDHX.
His widow left behind these words:
“At about 1:15 am this morning, fifteen hours after the ventilator had been removed, Larry passed away. His spirit flew free from the broken body that would have become its prison.
Larry is free.
His donated organs and tissues will bring life to others.
I have not thought about any funeral or memorial services yet. I must sleep first.
I am a widow.
I am adrift.”
On a personal note, Larry and I worked together as employees of KDHX and for several more years when I was a volunteer programmer there.
He was passionate about his wife Kathy Rogers Weir, Baseball, a good microbrew, great music and great radio. His soul will live on.
