No Depression Sessions at WinterWonderGrass Tahoe 2024: The Infamous Stringdusters
The Infamous Stringdusters
Join us in welcoming The Infamous Stringdusters to the Gatekeeper’s Museum in Tahoe City, California, as part of our No Depression Sessions series during the WinterWonderGrass Festival.
The museum is called Gatekeeper’s because it is located next to the gates that rise and fall to control the flow of water into the Truckee River, Lake Tahoe’s only outlet. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect setting for the Dusters to perform, as they got ready to release their Songs From the River compilation album, which collects songs inspired by rivers from across their catalog, and from each member’s solo material. To support the album, which came out in May, they’re playing river towns across the US through October on the “Nights on the River” tour.
The river tune they chose for their ND session is “Tears of the Earth,” from the Infamous Stringdusters’ 2012 album Silver Sky. Dobro man Andy Hall leads the charge:
Like the tears of the earth, the rivers they run
Coming down from the mountains in the bright morning sun
Where I clean my soul and get carried away
Let me stay in the valley by the river, one more day
After “Tears,” birthday boy Chris “Panda” Pandolfi takes lead vocal duties on the lighthearted Flatt and Scruggs song “Polka on the Banjo.”
Travis Book – Bass
Andy Falco – Guitar
Jeremy Garrett – Fiddle
Andy Hall – Dobro
Chris Pandolfi – Banjo
