Busy Weekend Planned for ‘Rebel’ Rod
I’ve got a lot going on this weekend. All of which I hope to share with the readers here at No Depression.
First up this weekend, Leon Russell at the world famous Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas. I don’t know if I’ll get to talk to him, but I can promise you some photos and there will absolutely be a review of the show. I saw him here in Kerrville about four years ago and it was a fantastic show. The show in Gruene promises to be as good if not better. We shall see.
Next up.
Yours truly has been invited to be on Big G’s Texas Road Show, broadcast from beautiful Kerrville, Texas. Kerrville is the home of the world renowned Kerrville Folk Festival, an annual event that has been going on here every late spring for around the last forty years..
Anyway. I’ll be on his show tomorrow night, Saturday, from midnight to 2 am (I’d better take plenty of coffee). We’ll be doing this bit we’ve done before. He plays something and then I’ll play something. The show is broadcast via the web at www.revfmradio.com, and if you happen to be in or passing through Junction, Texas, it’s goes out locally on KOOK FM 93.5.
There is absolutely no telling what you will hear on his show. Then, when you throw me into the equation, well, lets just say it will be interesting. I’m going to take some Commander Cody-some old and some new, Spoon, a band out of Austin/Portland, I happen to like a lot. I’ll also be bringing some Damon Fowler, an artist with Blind Pig that is an amazing guitarist. I also plan to spin something from Tom Russell’s new one, Blood and Candle Smoke, and what ever else I feel like sharing.
Well, there you have it. I hope everyone has a safe and happy halloween!
