MUSIC GUIDE

JULY 23 through 27, 2009 EDITION

A fun and free festival happens on Sunday in Altadena. Cal Phil performs under the stars with the Cabar Feidh Pipe Band at the L.A. County Arboretum on Saturday evening (yes, you can wear your kilt). There are dozens and dozens of acoustic music concerts and club gigs and outdoor concerts in parks — astonishing in number and variety and quality — today through next Monday, and a few workshops for musicians this weekend. If you hole-up in front of the air conditioner at home this weekend, you’ll miss much that’s wonderful and memorable and quite probably inspiring. It’s all there for the taking at

Yes, it’s true –
There are more ACOUSTIC AMERICANA / ACOUSTIC RENAISSANCE music performances EVERY week in the Los Angeles area than the COMBINED TOTAL of ALL OTHER KINDS OF MUSIC!
+
(And that doesn’t even take the dozens of electric Americana shows into account!)
