The Restoration’s Southern Musical Dramatics
There’s an odd little band here in South Carolina that fans of Old Crow Medicine Show, The Avett Brothers, and old-time string bands might want to check out–The Restoration. Bandleader Daniel Machado started the band as something different to do outside of his other group, the indie pop combo Guitar Show. The band’s music is kind of like an indie update of old-time sounds, but at times they can keep things very authentic. There’s a historical aspect to the band’s music, as Machado has created his own Faulknerian slice of southern history for his characters to inhabit from song to song, making a whole set a sort of narrative about this fictional family in the old South.
