• Telluride Contest **Part Of The Sum**

    Most people think of Telluride as a place, a destination, I think of it as an experience..

    I have spent the last 24 years celebrating the summer soltice in Telluride , Colorado with 10,000 of my favorite friends at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
    It just so happens my Birthday is on the soltice. What a great way to kick off the summer and my Birthday.

    Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Planet Bluegrass have been a beautiful journy for me…
    I had no ticket in 1985. I sat by the river and I could hear the music and wanted so much to be a part .
    I sang with fellow campers and camped and fell in love with the feeling of Telluride Bluegrass Fest.
    Everyone dancing, smiling and having fun. Could this be heaven on earth? Yes…
    Beautiful nonstop music! A feast!

    I returned in 1986 with a ticket and every summer since and when I hear the music as I walk through the gate a smile creeps on my face and it remains, long after fest is just a memory.
    Telluride Bluegrass fest is a state of mind… and it lingers ..

    Telluride Bluegrass Festival. That name is not quite accurate. This fest is all encompassing….
    I have been inspired by Gospel on Sunday morning, been rocked out by Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers and my shoes seem to start on fire every time Sam Bush takes the stage… FESSSTIIIVALLLL!!!
    Planet Bluegrass has the great ability to really mix it up and get everyone on their feet rockin the valley floor… it is somethin! I can feel it as I sit here and write.

    And then there are times, when everyone will hushhhhhhhhhh to hear a beautiful voice and we all seem to sigh together in one breath …

    Part of the sum.
    Yes for me this will be , that I am part of the sum that is Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
