Lee Ann Womack Announces New Album ‘The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone’
Lee Ann Womack may be smoking a cigarette on the cover of her just announced forthcoming album The Lonely, The Lonesome, & The Gone, but her new song “All the Trouble” is a breath of fresh air.
In tandem with the album announcement, Womack shared the smoldering new track via NPR Music. The moody arrangement of the song provides a striking contrast to Womack’s spun-gold vocals, which sparkle and crackle with nimble vitality.
Out October 27, The Lonely, The Lonesome, & The Gone is the follow-up to 2014’s excellent The Way I’m Livin’ and marks Womack’s debut on ATO Records. Her husband Frank Lidell produced the collection, and the pair recorded the new songs at SugarHill Studios in Houston, Texas.
“It got Frank and me in a different mindset,” Womack told NPR Music of working on the new album. “Especially Frank; he works on Music Row every day, and has for years. There’s a system and there’s a way things are done. It’s sort of a factory. Getting out of there gets him and the musicians and me in a different mindset. You’re reminded that it’s not all about what goes down in Nashville.”
