• Old Crow Medicine Show Announce New Album ‘Volunteer’

    Roots favorites Old Crow Medicine Show just announced plans to release a new album, Volunteer, via Columbia Records Nashville on April 20. The follow-up to their 2014 album Remedy, Volunteer marks the band’s sixth studo effort and also coincides with their 20th anniversary.

    The band recorded the album at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A with Americana super-producer Dave Cobb, known for his work with artists like Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton. The album is the band’s first since 2004 to feature electric guitar, and also enlists the pedal steel talents of Joe Jackson Andrews. Themes explored on the album include the plight of refugees (“A World Away”) and the complicated legacy of Southern history (“Look Away”).

    Remedy won the Best Folk Album Grammy Award in 2015. In 2017, OCMS released 50 Years of Blonde on Blonde, a live tribute to Bob Dylan’s beloved album Blonde on Blonde. Later last year, the band joined pop artist Kesha for an episode of CMT’s show Crossroads.

    OCMS is slated to appear at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Del Fest, and Floyd Fest in 2018. The band plans to announce additional 2018 tour dates in the near future.
