Win a Copy of the Compilation Album All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs and Voice of Gregg Allman
[NOTE: This contest is now closed. Congratulations to Jeff Fister, Lynne Patterson and Jeff Newport, who will receive a copy of this album. Thanks to everyone who entered!]
If Americana music had a recipe of influences, it’s safe to say it would include a significant serving of the Allman Brothers Band. As one of the leading forces in what’s typically considered Southern Rock, the Allmans blurred the line between country music and rock and roll, using sweet and infectious guitar riffs, gritty and unforgettable lyrics, and down-home harmonies. At the heart of it all was singer and multi-instrumentalist Gregg Allman, who deservedly earned praise from Rolling Stone, who called him one of the 100 greatest singers of all time.
To honor Allman’s incredible contributions to everything that exists between the country and rock ends of the musical spectrum, a slew of great artists have gathered to contribute tracks to a new tribute album. All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs and Voice of Gregg Allman includes tunes performed by artists as varied as Vince Gill and Taj Mahal, Zac Brown, the McCrary Sisters, John Hiatt, Keb’ Mo’, Susan Tedeschi, Widespread Panic, Jackson Browne, Derek Trucks, and others round out the set. The whole thing was recorded live at the Fox Theater in Atlanta during a once-in-a-lifetime all-star performance, and is being released as a formidable package (including one live concert DVD or Blu-ray and two CDs) via the fine folks at Rounder Records.
Meanwhile, we’ve teamed up with the Rounder crew to offer three lucky ND Community members a free copy of the package.
