Glenious A Mad Scientist
Glen Ackerman is a musical mad scientist that happens to also be a composer, arranger, and electric and acoustic bass player. His latest laboratory creation is Glenious Alien Landscape, (Blue Bamboo Music), Ackerman throw in little pieces from all over the place; cutting and pasting various musical vernaculars into various song forms and rhythmic styles. The creation is one of beauty, a true fusion of well-played music that really is well, let’s call it “mad scientist from another planet fusion.”
With a high tech ensemble featuring saxophonist Woody Witt, guitarists Paul Chester and Chris Cortez and keyboardist/pianist Alex Winkler. Styles cover are: jazz-rock, blues motivated medleys, ballads, reggae/rock beats, sophisticated jazz fusion, and even straight ahead swing. It’s a divergent program, modeled with emotional persuasions, affable compositions (all by Ackerman) and technical poise.
Ackerman’s unique approach to the bass (very fluid guitar likes solos) and creative compositions make this experiment a success. It is said the number 1 Tip for LONG-TERM success is “Experiment like a Mad Scientist” and Glenious Alien Landscape is the result of such an experiment. Ackerman’s equation for fusion music works and is as follows: Great musicians + great compositions x (technical ability +2 heart) = great fusion. Genius, Ackerman is a musical Genius.
