The Gin Pennies Charm with Debut

There’s beauty in the unearthly quality of Gin Pennies’ singer Shanelle Lewis’ voice. Throughout her new project, The Gin Pennies she sings in a hauntingly unique tone that is able to bend in directions that defy the shape and scope of the human form.
Throughout the record, we hear tracks that are filled with passion and purity. The Gin Pennies teeter the line of pop and gypsy, blending effortlessly making each piece a standout track.
But don’t label Lewis as one dimensional as she remains front-and-center over gorgeous soundscapes, or moments where you can hear her voice as a compromise between a broken-angel croon and beautiful celestial melodies. However, one of my favorite stand outs on the project is, “Film Noir,” which Lewis’ gorgeous range and idiosyncratic voice is on full display. The song has just enough spice to float you into to thel melody. It’s almost like conversation between vocals and the instrumentation; and it’s such a perfect combo indeed. Overall, The Gin Pennies is an amazing album that leaves you wondering what their next pivot could be.
