Willodean Shares Their “Awesome Life Decisions: Side Two”

The Left coast outfit WILLODEAN has graced us with a powerfully cinematic 6 song offering Awesome Life Decisions: Side Two. The EP kicks off with a couple of dancey jammers “The Gold” and “Want”.

The real soul of the record surfaces on the third track “Good Idea”. This takes a serious turn into a timely address of the current world state: “One thing the bastards understand / a good idea’s more dangerous than a man”.

The emotional and artistic arc continues uninterrupted into the soothingly sentimental Beatles-esque lullaby “Everything Will Be Okay” which flows seamlessly into “Olive”, a sweet and ironically upbeat ditty that makes a friend of the band’s self-esteem issues relatable and familiar:

“‘Olive’ is about a friend of mine who has a lot of self-destructive tendencies.  At the core of that was always her loneliness and self-esteem issues… this song was my attempt at cheering her up.”

Finally a pop-friendly ode to hope and human resilience presents itself in the closing track “Glasses”. At first listen the record is complete, catchy, dynamic, and authentic, but we guarantee you’ll want to hit play over and over again.
