Americana Boogie new releases this week from Greg Trooper, Brett Dennen, Linda Thompson, Robin & Linda Williams and more…
GREG TROOPER
Incident on Willow Street (52 Shakes)
Produced by Stewart Lerman, the songs on Trooper’s 12th record cover an array of characters most of whom are determined to find a better world than the one they’ve been living in. Musicians include some of the best players in the Americana genre including Larry Campbell on everything from steel guitar to Irish bazouki and Kenneth Blevins on drums. “Greg Trooper has got to be on our list of our finest contemporary songwriters.”- Billy Bragg
BRETT DENNEN
Smoke and Mirrors (Atlantic)
“It was time to get back to basics,” Dennen says of his fifth record, Smoke and Mirrors. “I wanted to return to the folk & acoustic music I loved when I began writing. I decided to tap into my memories & explore new emotional territory as honestly as I could.” Brett’s music career began around the Sierra Nevada mountain range to which he would return for inspiration. “Being in the mountains, aside from the inspiration, was so crucial to me because as a kid I used to spend so much time here. And just being there helped me regain that self-confidence. I remembered who I was.”
