Thanks For Giving A Damn
Today is kind of a big day for me in my tiny piece of the world. A year ago, I promised myself I’d do something positive. I’d create a show that features some of my favorite musicians telling road stories, tall tales and anecdotes. No music and no one plugging their new record. Just lighthearted talk where the host (me) shuts up and stays out of the way. I had no idea what I was doing, but I dove in head first and taught myself along the way. I loved the idea of speaking directly to the people who dig whatever it is I do and the podcast medium provided that. I also loved that I didn’t need to have permission from someone else to do this. I could simply put it out there and the show would sink or swim on its own merits. I’m happy to say it’s been more successful than I ever imagined. I promised myself that I’d make one episode a week for 50 weeks and stick to that schedule no matter what. I somehow managed to keep that promise to myself. Please forgive me for patting myself on the back, but we all need it every now and then.
