The Glade City Rounders go to Uncle Dave Macon Days 2014
Wow!! What an exciting weekend we had at Uncle Dave Macon Days. The whole band (the Glade City Rounders) went down to Uncle Dave Macon Days in Murfreesboro for the whole weekend. It was a blast playing old tunes at Cannonsburgh Village. Just knowing Uncle Dave passed by there many times with his mules makes us proud to play his songs and carry on his musical tradition. Friday night we all sang in the traditional blues contest, which was a lot of fun, but boy, was the competition tough. Saturday, William took 3rd place in traditional Fiddle and Squirrel took 3rd in old time banjo. Then, to top it all off, the Glade City Rounders took 2nd place in the Old Time String Band Contest. This was so exciting for us, considering the competition was so tough. Some of the Hog Slop String Band fellas were there, along with a threatening lineup of bands. We played an old Arthur Smith tune called ‘Darlin’ Honey’ and then an old one we heard Charlie Poole do called ‘Leavin’ Home’.
We also got to see some great friends there, and ate some of the best food. We all hit up the Grilled Cheeserie food truck for a Pimento and Chee sandwhich, the beeesssttt!!!!
I can say we are very excited about next years festival!
