Gilded Palace Radio Show: April 8th-22nd 2013 – Glossary and Austin Lucas in session

It’s only taken ten years, but at last Glossary made it to Europe. Better yet, they took time to stop off at the Gilded Palace studio for a quick chat and a couple of songs. They’re here thanks to the ever-excellent Austin Lucas, with whom they have recorded an album. It would probably be an understatement to describe them simply as Austin’s backing band, but when it comes it will be an Austin Lucas album.

We were treated to a few of the songs during their recent Brighton show. I have had only a few moments like the one I experienced when the band launched into a song called Alone In Memphis: and it was one of ‘those’ moments when nothing else exists, all other music is a hazy memory and the true purpose of songwriting and performing is apparently revealed. An epiphany, I think religious types call it. A truly great song! 
All I know about the album so far is its title (Stay Reckless) and a projected release date (July 2013). It can’t come soon enough!

Glossary too have a ‘new’ album: thanks to UK label, Xtra Mile. Long Live All Of Us (their 2011 release on Last Chance in the USA), is out over here on April 15th. They’re already getting played on national radio, so fingers crossed for more followers – and a speedy return to the UK, of course.

I hope you have been lucky enough to catch one of the shows. I also hope that we are privileged enough to see these two tour together again. Fingers  crossed that Austin’s album gets the attention he surely deserves. He’s already built a solid following worldwide – but if I’m honest, I think the ‘americana’ community has been slow to embrace him. Maybe Stay Reckless will be the record to bring him to wider public acclaim. Enjoy the session tracks – two from Glossary, one from Austin: I can’t stop playing them!
