There are fewer bigger parties than Mardi Gras. Come to think of it, there isn’t a bigger party.
When you bring the party to Music City, well be prepared to boogie down till the break of dawn.
The legendary Dr. John played what had to be the grooviest, greasiest and sonically amazing sets at City Winery in Nashville as part of his Mardi Gras shows. Starting out with a slow swampy intro, Doc’s band set the tone and got the crowd ready for what would be an amazing winter evening in Nashville. Well it wouldn’t be Nashville without a special guest right? Before “Big Shot” Doc introduced the legendary McCrary Sisters to sing backing vocals and bring that soulful, funky vibe to the show. “Iko Iko,” got the crowd fully into New Orleans mood 15 minutes into the set. The interplay within the quintet that is Doc’s band, they were calling audibles throughout the show.
Show stopping “Right Place Wrong Time,” was the epitomy of the entire evening as Doc took us all on that trippy, creole influenced music he’s been doing for almost 50 years. So keep your gris gris on your dubstep.
