I once spent a weekend at the Vancouver Folk Festival where a couple of the workshops were…let’s say, lacklustre. The weather was rainy and wet, so maybe that affected my perception. Who knows.
Anyway: suddenly, at one of them Danny Michel took the stage and kind of took charge of the entire thing. It was like a ray of sunshine hitting every musician on that stage, and each and every one of them upped their game to match Danny.
The man is immensely talented and he shares that talent with everybody who plays with him. It comes through on record, but it’s even better live.
