Couch by Couchwest Day 3 Highlights
Let’s start today’s highlights with a little gothic country music from Jeff Zentner.
Strand of Oaks did a haunting cover of Jason Molina’s “Long Desert Train.”
A cool collaboration took place between Jay J. Fresh of Calgary, Canada, who remixed a folk song by Misdivine of Brisbane, Australia. It’s an ambient electro remix which may not be the type of music that No Depression readers enjoy, but the video tells a cool story, and the artists did the collaboration completely digitally.
It was Taco Tuesday, so we had Couchers send in their photos and recipes of their favorite Tacos. This is Lusty Taco Pie submitted by twitterer @Popa2unes. See here for the recipe.
Middle schoolers from the Chicago area in the band Northbrook Garage performed Big Star’s “Thirteen,” also the age of the youngest member of the band.
And we finish with a nifty little number from the Tom Savage Trio of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. More trains songs for the Americana crowd!
We have some fun stuff lined up for tomorrow, including a guy who rolled out of bed and recorded the debut song from his new band just for CXCW (bedhead and all). And maybe our first SXSW parody song.
